Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 20, 2026
Trail Tracker (“we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
What we collect
- Email address — if you log in, purchase the app, or subscribe to cloud backup.
- GPS track data — blood trail paths, pins, notes, and start points you create. Stored on your device by default. If you use cloud backup, copies are stored on our server tied to your account.
- Property boundaries — lines you draw or import, and parcel lookups you request, are stored locally on your device unless you back them up yourself.
- Purchase records — payment status and Stripe customer ID (we do not store card numbers).
- Basic server logs — IP address, browser type, and request timestamps for security and troubleshooting.
How we use your information
- Provide GPS tracking, map layers, and optional cloud sync
- Send magic-link login emails
- Process purchases and manage subscriptions
- Respond to support requests
- Prevent abuse and keep the service secure
We do not sell your personal information or GPS tracks to third parties.
Where data is stored
- On your phone — tracks, maps cache, and property lines (local storage / PWA cache)
- Our servers — account email, entitlements, and cloud-backed tracks (hosted on Render)
- Third-party services — Stripe (payments), Resend (email), OpenStreetMap / Esri (map tiles), and state/county GIS APIs (parcel lookups when you request them)
Location data
GPS coordinates are collected only when you use the tracker and only with your device’s permission. You control when tracking starts and stops. Location data is used to show your position on the map, record your path, and calculate distance and bearing back to your start point.
Retention & deletion
- Tracks on your device remain until you delete them or clear browser/app data.
- Cloud-backed tracks remain until you delete them or close your account.
- Account email and purchase records are kept as long as needed for billing, tax, and support.
To request deletion of cloud data or your account, email [email protected].
Children
Trail Tracker is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
